Current Owner & Generations

Establishment Key Dates

The name of the vineyard is Park Hill Vineyards. They are officially registered under the name Park Rill Vineyards (the name of the creek running through some of the land), but after the bank repeatedly misspelled the name and wrote Hill instead of Rill on our cheques and communications, they finally gave in and adopted it.

The vines were first planted in 1983 with mostly hybrids (Marechal Foch, OK Riesling, Verdelet) and Gewurztraminer, followed by Riesling the year after. The vineyard still has some Gewurztraminer, Marechal Foch and Riesling still in the ground from  these early 1983/84 years , but sadly there is no more Verdelet left.

The most productive grape is actually a hybrid (Marechal Foch). It thrives here as it’s able to withstand extreme temperatures.

We focus on cover cropping and minimizing inputs; soil fertility is almost exclusively provided by cover crops, including hairy vetch, red and white clover, birdshot trefoil, black medic, sanfoin, etc.

Grape Varietals

Marechal Foch, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay.
