Tasting Notes:
Fresh and stylish and slightly smoky! Slightly lighter than most merlots, with dominant notes of red plum, raspberry, licorice and sage with a hint of strawberry and mocha.
Vineyard Notes:
Organic grapes were hand harvested from Esther Vineyard (Kaleden, BC) and Sehkon Family Vineyard (Osoyoos, BC). 2021 was a warm and dry growing season in the Okanagan Valley with some wildfires in the area, yielding exceptional red wines with more fruit and tannins but with some smoke flavour.
Winemaker Notes:
The wine fermented in small lots with less skin contact to avoid a smoke tint, leading to a lighter merlot style. After pressing, it was barreled into neutral French oak barriques for 24 months before bottling.
Food Pairing Notes:
Pair with grass-fed steak or just about anything from the grill—including darker fishes, hard cheeses, wild mushrooms and olives.
